After capturing the music phone market with walkman range, sony ericsson is all set to rule the mobile gaming world with the launch of psp phone.
Sony ericsson’s main competitor will be N-gage from Nokia.
Their recent patent filing shows how Sony Ericsson will go about integrating cellphone and gaming console. The patent describes a device with “digital tactile pixels” that respond to touch and give feedback via vibration. This patent was submitted by Sony Computer Entertainment, the group behind PlayStation, and not Ericsson, like the last alleged PSP phone patent. The mystery device is covered to play games and music and browse the web, but also make phone calls.
As we had already known, this company have lost their position as the world’s fourth largest cellphone maker after they were being taken by LG in this Q1 this year. Perhaps, Sony’s insider thought that putting PSP brand name into Sony Ericsson will leave them in loss condition similar like what had happened to Walkman or Cyber Shot brand name.
The Sony Ericsson gaming boss, Peter Ahnegard, said that a PlayStation-branded gaming phone would be coming by Christmas. He also added that it might not be this Christmas, which probably pissed whoever he was talking to off to no end.
